Sub-Human have been playing gigs since Friday the 13th of February last year and continue to rip shit up to this day. We area three-piece band. The Sub-Krew don't trace music, only playing original material and they continue to write and perform more of it constanly. The style of music is hardcore metal with a tinge of other metal genres including Death metal and Metalcore. Then theres the trippy mellow bits that some of the songs also have popping out when unexpected.

We Got A Couple Of New Bands To The Scene Up There With Us Last Friday, It Rocked. We Had Dexterity who Played At The Battle, They Busted Out A Bunch Of Nu Metal Covers Including KoRn, System Of A Down And Even New Zealands Blindspott. Risen Were The Other Band New To The Scene, They Jumped Up AndPlayed A Metallica Tribute Which Consisted Of Old School Metallica Tracks. We Will definately Be Jamming With These Guys Again. We Jumped On Third And Played A Pumping Set, Only Problem Was My Guitar Amp Blew During The 2nd To Last Song. Fuck That Sucked But What Can You Do. I Still Had A Massive Night And Kept Drinking Till Almost Lunch The Next Day Before I Staggered Through The Door And Plunged On The Couch For A Sleep.

It was a long and relativly boring trip to New Plymouth, but fuck it was worth it. We competed against some massive bands with heaps of talent. The night started with a punk band called 'Semi Blind Fly' they blew me away with there 'Fuck You!' sort of attitude. The .Agent. a hard rock band jumped on and rocked the fuck out, I like the style they played it was kinda like Tool crossed with a bit of metal. (reminded me of Cripple Mr. Onion personally). Then Skankamelia took the stage with there Reggae punk which was pumping with energy. After Skankamelia jumped off the stage it was our turn... Sub-Human jumped up and in my mind we ripped shit up. We had a few supporters from the bay who all moshed along but to see people from New Plymouth running up to the mosh pit and getting right into was a shock, a very good one. Such a good shock that I was feeding off it and going nuts. after we played our set of 5 songs (Feel the Fear, Lock Me Up (fuck that), Cunt-Stubble, Open Your Eyes and Zombied Zombie) it was time to consume heaps off piss to try catch up to the rest of the bar. Then Viscera hit the stage with some old skool sounding metal and a wiked instrumental track where the musicians let loose. The last band to make some music was Niho Taniwha with the rap/rock styles going down, that was also awsome and the competition was very tough. All these different styles of music had come to compete and the tension was on... Winner of the night was .Agent. who are off to the final in Auckland. We had a chat to the judges and found out we had come 2nd by 4 points, so close but no cigar. We may not have made it through but we still felt really good afterwards and had a fucking choice night. All the bands rocked and we are now back in Napier about to work on some new material.

Sub-Human made it through the Hawkes Bay World Battle Of The Bands heats, our next missin is to get our ass's to New Plymouth for the Central North Island Regional Final. Skankamelia came all the way from Gisbourne to compete in Hawkes Bay and will be joining us in New Plymouth for a hell of a gig. The H.B. heat was wiked as we had a shit-load of awsome bands there: Ayke, Opus, Dexterity, Omega Dawn and Dead Heroes Collective were the other groups that entered. Peanut Pioneers pulled out for some unknown reason. It was so cool to be able to play with all these bands, it was like a gathering of Hawkes Bay music (plus the allmighty reggae punk rockers Skankamelia from Gizy). We look forward to Evilizing New Plymouth with all the cursing, chugging, screaming, and moshing. If any of you Sub-Humaniacs wanna go on a road trip, rock on to New Plymouth and hang with us at the Basement Bar. Chill and watch some of Central North Islands finest bands.
